Whenever fashion weeks come around, it’s always fun to see what’s currently inspiring designers. Everything from major motion pictures to animation can be found influencing looks on runways more often than not these days and that was certainly the case at New York Fashion Week this month.

In a number of fashion presentations, movies especially had an impact on designers. Disney was the most prominent source of inspiration with villains and animated classics showing up on apparel and accessories, some of which you can even purchase right now.

Take a look at those and other notable pop culture appearances at New York Fashion Week below!

Disney Villains and The Blonds

Disney had quite a presence at fashion week, but perhaps the biggest splash they made was with luxury brand The Blonds. The Blonds created a stunning Disney Villains runway show that featured looks inspired by the Evil Queen, Maleficent, Dr. Facillier, Cruella de Vil, the Queen of Hearts, Ursula, and Flotsam and Jetsam. There was even incredible nail art by CND.

Among the looks were some pieces by Lauren Moshi, who worked with Disney and The Blonds for a Disney Villains collection that is available for preorder online now.

Australian brand nANA jUDY’s show was their debut at New York Fashion Week and featured their upcoming collaboration with Disney. Together the two companies worked on a 101 Dalmatians collection with pieces for men and women. Dogs joined models on the runway for a unique introduction to the line. The items will be available for purchase this fall.

Calvin Klein

In Calvin Klein’s spring 2019 show, chief creative officer Raf Simons included The Graduate and Jaws on the runway. Dresses, shirts, and other outfits referenced the classic films. Some models even wore a combination of the two with a Jaws tee and graduation cap and gown paired together on one model.

Pikachu was on sweaters and skirts in bright pinks and blues in Scott’s ready-to-wear line. No word yet on when these might be available for purchase.

Coach

Coach has worked with Disney before and so it might not be a surprise that the company’s films inspired a number of items at Coach’s presentation. It’s more the range that’s actually quite fascinating. Sweaters, hoodies, and bags were among the items featuring a mix of characters from numerous films. There’s Bambi, Aristocats, Dumbo, Pinocchio, and many more movies you can spot on models. Some of the items are already available for purchase and a few are even sold out.

If Disney wasn’t at New York Fashion Week enough, they also had a presence off the runways during the event. The company hosted a Minnie Mouse Style suite that many celebrities visited. It was just for VIP guests who could get manicures and makeovers before moving on to the next fashion week hot spot.
